Hanoi [Vietnam], April 28: Ốc Thanh Vân attracted attention by sharing a steamy photo with actor Trần Ngọc Vang. The two recently collaborated on the film "Heo năm mong" (Five-Toothed Pig) , which is currently a box office hit. According to Box Office Vietnam statistics, the film has grossed over 41.4 billion VND after just a few days in theaters, and many predict it will reach 100 billion VND soon if it continues to maintain its current momentum.
The return of Oc Thanh Van
In the film, Oc Thanh Van plays Jennifer Truc Nguyen, a Vietnamese expatriate facing conflicts in her marriage due to cultural differences. According to reports, the role came to the actress after she returned from Australia. Therefore, she had to rearrange her schedule to be able to participate in this horror film and focus entirely on the character.
"The screenwriter wrote a very good outline, but I also tried to refine my character's dialogue as best as I could. The people who helped me do that were my children, especially the two older ones," she revealed.
Actress Oc Thanh Van shared that when reading the script, she understood that some of the character's words were a bit harsh, especially in the scene where she argues with Tran Ngoc Vang. However, the actress revealed: "If you compare the intensity, there are many Vietnamese words that are even harsher. Using such language is appropriate for the context and the character's personality. As my children explained to me, using such language is actually mild."
Over the past year, Oc Thanh Van has been busy with roles in both theater and film, despite being preoccupied with family care and developing her business. Based on her own experience, she shared: "If a woman can both contribute to society and manage household chores, that is a truly commendable effort."
The actress, born in the 1980s, said that during her time living in Australia, there were days when she suddenly burst into tears due to a crisis of values. Sharing about this, Oc Thanh Van confided: "Suddenly, I wondered if I should just stand here doing this job, or if I could do many other things. At that moment, I thought that and decided to go home. My return to acting was like a form of healing. And now, being a housewife is also a form of healing, so I try to balance both."
Speaking further about the decisive moment of returning to Vietnam from Australia, Oc Thanh Van shared that she always trusts her own judgment. Therefore, once she makes a decision, she will see it through to the end. "Everything happened very quickly, without thinking twice. I decided to go back because I knew that if I was okay, then my family would be okay too. So I just came back," the female artist shared.
According to actress Oc Thanh Van, because her story received so much attention, it became a case of misinterpretation through word of mouth. However, for the actress, "it's not a big deal at all." She explained: "Because experiencing life out there to know what the world is like is something you should do. No matter how difficult it is, it's worth it. I had time to connect with the children. Because childhood only happens once. When they grow up, they won't remember much about their mother being an artist, but they will remember the times I took care of them, shared experiences with them, and waited for them to come home. I think that's truly valuable."
